For more than a decade, I have been living a simple life, a life that needs less. It saves you money and makes you less stressed and excited all the time. Living a simple life means making the best out of the resources you have and finding joy in simple things like spending time with family, watching a movie, or going out on a simple short walk.
Initially, the path of living a simple life was tough. The main hurdle was society; explaining why I am not always present at night parties, don’t drink, or am not updated about the latest moves or TV shows became challenging. But as I got more into it, I got used to it. It is all about your thoughts; research tells how another opinion might impact your living style.
The second and most difficult challenge was for my family, especially the kids. Making your kids understand how minimalist living helps you grow can be very difficult. Being in the era of social media, where you are getting flooded with content, getting externally influenced becomes inevitable.
Here are some things that I have learned from living a simple life
1. Simple Lifestyle It is Worth it
Initially, it is difficult as you don’t fit into society. Society will try to push you away from this lifestyle, but you have to stay dedicated. I remember an incident where I was being forced to drink at an office party, even though “I don’t judge people that drink,” personally, I don’t like drinking with people I am not comfortable with.
Trust me, stay dedicated, and this struggle will be worth it as soon as you start seeing positive signs of simplicity and dedication.
2. You Will Lose Friends
Yes! Get ready to lose some friends. As soon as you start doing things your way, you will be judged daily. Not adopting some specific style or not binging the latest TV series, you will struggle to keep up with the group conversations.
You might even have to go through judgments, jealousy, and anger rage for not doing things that society wants you to do. But trust me, you will lose some fake friends but will definitely gain some real ones, ones that don’t always judge you and appreciate and motivate you to adopt a simple life.
3. You Have to Let Go All the Temptations
Distraction, busyness, and constant switching to things that you want to will be a daily fight. You don’t get these habits overnight but develop them daily. It’s a journey, and every step you take towards healthier habits is a step towards a simpler, happier life. Trust me, these are the things that you need least in your life, and letting go will make you feel better and happy. You will feel the calmness of living a simple life once you master the habit of letting go of these bad habits.

4. You Do Things You Love
Doing things you love is something that everyone once thought of doing; by adopting a simple lifestyle, you start doing things you love. I love reading books, going on short walks, or spending time with family. Being simpler means that you don’t need those fancy TV shows, parties, or alcohol to get that dopamine rush. Doing simple things will give you that satisfaction.
5. Everyday Is A Struggle Initially
While practicing a simple life and lifestyle, initially, you will have to go through daily challenges and struggles. Get ready for failures in the beginning. But trust me, each failure will make your willpower more strong.
6. Life Gets into Slow Motion
Once you adopt a simple life, your mind becomes calmer. You start noticing each and everything around you: birds chirping, cold wind blogging, or a warm sunset in the cold. Enjoying simple things keeps you away from the unnecessary stress that people get from a modern lifestyle.
7. Making Life Decisions Becomes Easier.
Once you have a clear and less cluttered mind, you are clear about what is important to you and what is not. This superpower helps you make some tough life decisions easily . Trust me! A less distracted life, a clear mind, and a slow life are blessings in life.
8. You Learn to Control Your Emotions
Are you an emotional person? Research tells us people always make worse choices in life if they make decisions emotionally. There is a saying, “Once you can control your mind, you can control your life.”
They were not the only lessons that I learned from simple life; these are some of the top ones that really helped me in making my life better and worth living.
A simple life is all about removing unwanted elements from your life that might make your life more cluttered and messed up.
